Winter Wonderland

We had our first real snowfall last night. Enough to turn everything white, and to send me careening a couple of times on the drive home. Tiffany and I stoked the fire, cracked some walnuts and enjoyed our first real winter weather. I've already filled the woodbox and shoveled the walk, and I think there might be some waffles in the making.

The word on the street is that the local ski hill will be able to open this weekend, which would be nice for Tiffany's cafe.

I did it!

It took a clerk at Borders and Steve to help me figure out how to get started. And that was just the first name I needed to work out. I am not at all sure I am writing to you all. But I love readng all of your commments. Gary was right. David is a genius. I received a letter and pictures from a friend sending me pictures of her daughter and our son, Steve on their second birthdays. We spent a lot of time in Border's and did a lot of Christmas buying. Lots of fun.
Now if I can just figure out to send this off.......................

You're a genius, David!

Thank you David, for setting this up for the family. I think it could be a lot of fun. I'll have to work on posting pictures, too. I'm indulging in a little post-holiday lounging this a.m. For me that is usually checking my e-mail, doing a little surfing, checking the last 5 minutes of the HGTV programs, and browsing a catalog or two. But enough is enough. Mrs. Claus has things to do! As usual, I am excited about Christmas. I love the season!

I especially enjoyed setting out my growing collection of nativities thanks to my globe trotting children and husband. I'll post a pic if I can figure it out.

Have a great day, family.

Hooray for Family News!

Thanks so much David, for creating this site! I don't know how to post pictures yet, I may be able to do it at work. But for now I just wanted to try this out. We had a great Turkey day although our fried turkey didn't turn out as juicy as I was hoping! The in-laws behaved for the most part- we had a good time! Saw a few movies and played catch-phrase and Texas hold-em. It's nice to have our house back to normal and now can't wait for Christmas break!!! It's rainy but not cold here today. Is there any chance for a white Christmas for anyone? Probably Dave and Tiffany have the best chance huh? I love you all and look forward to seeing everyone's posts. I love having a new diversion for my work day!

Happy Holidays

Here's a recent photo of me, in case you forgot what I look like. This is a good year to have a wood stove, with the high price of heating oil. Plus, splitting and stacking the wood is great exercise. Obviously a candid photo, taken through the window, because 1) I didn't screw it up by making a goofy face and 2) even I know better to pose in front of the trash can. Anyhow, we've really enjoyed having the fires. We're finally starting to figure out how to regulate the heat so that it's not either a raging inferno and 95 degrees in the living room or burnt out from lack of air.

With the holidays here, we've got the tree and ornaments up. Aren't we festive? The holidays chez Christensen/Cain are sponsored by tinfoil.

Hello Christensens!

Welcome to the Christensen Family Blog. A place, for now, for me to tell you about your family. See, I don't really know how to let y'all add your own posts to your blog, but I'm working on it. Once I figure that out, I'll e-mail you the info.

A few other caveats: my internet browser isn't fully supported by Blogger (the company hosting our blog), and all this newfangled technology like HTML is really passing me by--I interact all day with the twin technologies of sharpened steel and flat wooden board. Which is to say that I can't, and don't know how to, use HTML tags to add things like links. Those of you using Mozilla or Internet Explorer may have better luck with this--there should be buttons that will help with that stuff.

Anyhow, enough with the techno-voodoo. Time for a picture of the new kitty! Introducing the newest addition to the Christensen/Cain household, known variously as Mr. Kitty, Notorious B.I.G, Big Ole Kitty, Biggie Smalls, and Shep Proudfoot:
